PCA Submission – Foundations of a new Aged Care Act

This submission provides feedback on the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Consultation Paper, A New Aged Care Act: the foundations. PCA supports the development of a rights-based Aged Care Act and notes the alignment between key proposed elements of the Act and the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. PCA welcomes the proposed inclusion in the Act of a right to equitable access to palliative and end-of-life care when required.  This submission provides advice on the proposed Objects of the Act, Statement of Rights, Statement of Principles, definition of high-quality care, supported decision-making arrangements, and eligibility for and access to funded aged care services.
