PCA welcomes the opportunity to make this submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Legislation and their 'Inquiry into the provisions of the Aged Care Bill 2024' 

The anticipated passage of the Aged Care Bill 2024 will enact the first recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and underpin the ongoing and positive reorientation for Australia’s aged care system.

The recommendations in this submission are intended to highlight opportunities to strengthen the Bill and the provision of palliative care and end-of-life care in aged care settings.
