Experience internationally of the legalisation of assisted dying on the palliative care sector - October 2018

This review conducted by PCA and Aspex Consulting, explores the international experience on the palliative care sector of the legalisation of voluntary assisted dying across the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The assessment found that following the introduction of assisted dying for each of the in-scope jurisdictions, there is no evidence to suggest that the palliative care sectors were adversely impacted by the introduction of the legislation. If anything, in jurisdictions where assisted dying is available, the palliative care sector had further advanced.
