The findings and insights presented in this report are based on the 1400 responses received to the Survey of the National Palliative Care Workforce Across Health and Age Care Settings.

The survey and these findings are a collaboration between Palliative Care Australia and Winton Research and Insights. The survey was conducted between May and August of 2024.

Among our total sample, 43% of people had less than 10 years’ experience, 30% had 10 to 19 years’ experience, and 24% had 20 or more years’ experience in palliative care overall.

The settings that our survey respondents mostly work in are specialist palliative care (53%), aged care (18%), primary care (9%), other health care (10%), and volunteering (10%).

This report deals with the wellbeing of these health professionals and volunteers, we are grateful for the insights they have shared.

The palliative care, aged care, and broader health sectors in Australia are under unprecedented pressure.
