This briefing paper has been prepared by Palliative Care Australia to provide an overview of recent developments in palliative care data and reporting available from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).

It provides information about key new data from AIHW reports about palliative care, which represent an advance on data previously available. These are National Palliative Care Measures and Palliative care and health service for people with life-limiting conditions, both published May 2024.

The reports provide new information that is highly relevant to palliative care service and policy development.
