Palliative Care Australia is delighted to announce the re-election of Dr Peter Allcroft as Chair of the Palliative Care Australia Board, and the election of Sarah Begley as Deputy Chair. 

Dr Allcroft’s re-appointment provides important continuity for PCA’s governance and strategic direction at a time of significant reform and growing demand for palliative care across Australia. His deep clinical experience and long-standing commitment to improving care at the end of life will continue to guide PCA’s advocacy and partnerships in the years ahead. 

As Deputy Chair, Ms Begley brings strong frontline experience and leadership in palliative care nursing and education. Her perspective ensures that the voices of practitioners, patients and families remain central to PCA’s work, particularly in strengthening the palliative care workforce and improving access to quality care in all settings. 

Together, Dr Allcroft and Ms Begley will lead a Board that brings together clinicians, people with lived experience, researchers and professionals from across the country – all united in a shared commitment to ensuring every Australian can access high-quality palliative care when they need it. Palliative Care Australia warmly congratulates Dr Peter Allcroft and Sarah Begley on their appointments. 

PCA also extends its sincere thanks to Professor Meera Agar, outgoing Deputy Chair and former Chair of the Board, for her outstanding service and contribution over many years. Professor Agar has played a pivotal role in shaping PCA’s national leadership, championing evidence-informed practice, and fostering collaboration across health, aged care and community sectors.
