Palliative Care Australia has launched Caring Together, a new booklet designed to support families and caregivers of children with life-limiting illnesses. 

The resource was created in response to families' need for clear, accessible information during one of life's most difficult journeys. It explains what paediatric palliative care involves, who makes up the care team, and how families can feel confident asking questions and expressing what matters most to them. 

Caring Together offers practical guidance on care options, decision-making, and communication. It also provides space for reflection and important family conversations. 

"Reading about palliative care can feel overwhelming," the booklet acknowledges, encouraging families to take their time, talk with loved ones, and lean on their medical and palliative care teams for support. 

Health professionals can use Caring Together as a gentle entry point for conversations with families, helping them share information in a culturally safe and family-centred way. 

The booklet is now available in four versions: English, Easy English (with simple language and supportive images), Arabic, and Vietnamese. The Arabic and Vietnamese versions were reviewed with community members to ensure cultural relevance and clarity. 

Each version was shaped by families, carers, communities, and health professionals who shared their real experiences. 

At the heart of every version is the same promise: families don't have to face this alone.
