Inspiring film about palliative care in Australia launches this May - host a screening in your community!

You are invited to join a movement that is driving a national conservation about making palliative care available to all Australians no matter where they live.

Live the life you please is a definitive, new feature documentary film about living and dying in Australia.

Produced by multi-award winning filmmakers, Moonshine Agency, Live the life you please boasts a treasure trove of incredible stories captured all around Australia, from cities and regional centres to remote communities.

It will make you smile, laugh, laugh harder and occasionally shed a tear as the stories of a diverse range of Australians experiencing their last chapter of life unfolds before you.

Stories include Australians of all ages, different stages of disease and a variety of geographical locations, cultural, socio-economic and personal circumstances.

The film powerfully makes the case for the impact accessible services can make as we approach the end-of-life.

It makes the social and economic case for increased support of essential services including palliative care, aged care, community care, allied health and the support of carers at home.

This remarkable film also supports the concepts of cultural safety, healthy conservations about death and dying amongst family members, and the importance of advance care planning.

"I wept most of the way through this film. It wasn’t because it was about death, and nor was it because it recounts real pain and tragedy. It was because it was so beautiful.

In an extraordinary way, Live the life you please brings expression to the dignified and dignifying work of end of life care, with all of its joys and hopes which rest alongside griefs and sufferings.

The film highlights that best practice end of life care can help to make the final chapter of life a beautiful one, and challenges our community to make best practice a consistent feature of our health care system.”

Dr Dan Fleming, St Vincent’s Health Australia

Live the life you please will provide a powerful centrepiece for National Palliative Care Week, 21 to 27 May 2023, and you are invited to amplify the films voices and push for change within your own community by hosting a local screening.

Hosting a screening is affordable and easier then you think,  the team at Moonshine and PCA are here to help. You can use screening events to raise funds for your organisation or just pull people together for important conversations. Find out more HERE.
