PCA Connect Webinar | Celebrating 10+ years of QuoCCA: Advancing education in paediatric palliative care
The PCA Connect Webinar ‘Celebrating 10+ years of QuoCCA: Advancing education in paediatric palliative care’, held on 12 May 2026, marked more than a decade of the Quality of Care Collaborative Australia (QuoCCA) project, a national initiative delivering paediatric palliative care education to health professionals across Australia. The session reflected on the program’s origins and impact, shared key learnings, and explored how education, collaboration and innovation continue to improve care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Over the past 10 years, more than 30,000 health, social care, school and other community staff have been educated through the initiative.
Panel speakers:
- Simon Waring: Facilitator and Interim CEO of Palliative Care Australia
- Anthony Herbert: A/Prof Anthony Herbert is Director of the Paediatric Palliative Care Service at the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service. He is also Project Lead for the Quality of Care Collaborative of Australia (QuoCCA) for Education in Paediatric Palliative Care and Group Leader of the Paediatric Palliative and Supportive Care Research Group at the Queensland University of Technology.
- Lee-anne Pedersen: Lee-anne is a nurse practitioner who was part of the initial QuoCCA project with Queensland Children’s palliative care team, for many years. Now she is working rural and remote using my palliative care skills in a different way.
- Penny Slater: Penny worked from 2008 to 2025 as Program Manager for the Queensland Paediatric Palliative Care, Haematology and Oncology Network and its tertiary centre at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and was National Project Advisor for QuoCCA since its inception.
- Jenny Hynson: Associate Professor Jenny Hynson was until recently, the Head of the Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program, a state-wide service for children with palliative care needs based at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Jenny helped establish and grow the service and has over 25 years’ experience in providing children’s palliative care.
- Rochelle Luders: Rochelle has been married to husband Michael for almost 25 years and a mum to 3 beautiful children – Dylan 29 and Chelsea 22 and their guardian angel Mitchell (forever 13).
