Use of Medicinal Cannabis Products in Palliative Care

A position statement by PCA on the use of medicinal cannabis products in palliative care. PCA highlights that all people have the right to safe, compassionate and appropriate care as they approach the end of their lives, including access to safe medications essential to providing quality palliative care. PCA agrees that medicinal cannabis products should become regulated under the therapeutic goods regulatory scheme. Continued evidence and research is required to identify what conditions and symptoms can benefit from medicinal cannabis products, and to show potential benefits for improving the quality of life of people receiving palliative care, and that its use exceeds any possible harms.
