Submission to the Closing the Gap Refresh - April 2018

This submission by PCA to the Closing the Gap Refresh – The Next Phase: Public Discussion Paper, outlines the need for culturally appropriate models of care that enable timely access to palliative care and end-of-life care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. These include exploring processes to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples cultural or spiritual requirements are taken into consideration at end-of-life and following death; the need to ‘return to country’ at end-of-life; community-based approaches to palliative care; and the impact of loss and grief in community.
