This submission, prepared by PCA for the Royal Commission Into Aged Care Quality and Safety, outlines several structural and policy-based issues that contribute to the lack of understanding and attention given to palliative care in aged care. PCA recommends a hearing on palliative care be included in the Royal Commission’s inquiry, to highlight current gaps, as well as showcase innovative models of care to improve the experience of aged care consumers and carers.
