Submission to the to the Royal Commission Into Aged Care Quality And Safety - major submission October 2019
Friday, July 03, 2020This submission, prepared by PCA for the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, highlights a range of systemic factors which underpin the poor recognition of, and structural impediments to, the delivery of quality palliative care in aged care and makes recommendations to address them:
- Palliative care should be core business for aged care.
- Aged care policy should align with the World Health Organisation (WHO) definition of palliative care.
- Palliative care should not be restricted to 'end of life' or last days or weeks of life.
