Palliative and end-of-life care are essential components of residential aged care, but at present the AN-ACC funding model does not adequately reflect the costs of this care. PCA calls for urgent refinement of the AN-ACC framework, including review of the underutilised AN-ACC Class 1 (Entry for Palliative Care), and adjustments to better reflect complex resident needs. PCA also recommends that future funding model options for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care program and the Multi-Purpose Service program explicitly account for palliative care and end-of-lice are.
