Productivity Commission’s Interim Report: Delivering quality care more efficiently

PCA’s submission welcomes three areas for action to improve efficiency and productivity in the care sector;

  • greater alignment of safety and quality regulation across health, aged and other care sectors;
  • allowing services and organisations to share funds and planning to meet local needs; and
  • introducing a prevention investment framework to reduce poor health and promote better use of expensive acute care services.

PCA’s submission focuses on the evidence showing the economic and health benefits of providing palliative care in a timely way, and recommending further preventative investment in providing palliative care.
