Exposure draft - Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill 2026
Wednesday, September 23, 2026
Submission to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts
Palliative Care Australia's submission on the draft Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill 2026 raises concerns that proposed wording in the exposure draft could inadvertently restrict access to information about lawful Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD).
PCA recommends:
- Explicitly excluding material relating to VAD from the relevant provision.
- Ensuring people with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers can continue to access reliable information about VAD eligibility, safeguards and authorised services.
