Review of the National Palliative Care Standards for Specialist Palliative Care providers and services
Review of the National Palliative Care Standards for Specialist Palliative Care providers and services
Friday, March 17, 2023
Palliative Care Australia has been producing specialist National Palliative Care Standards for over 15 years, with the objective to improve quality palliative care experiences and outcomes for people, their families, and carers.
In 2023, the National Palliative Care Standards (NPCS) 5th ed. (2018) will be put through a limited scope review process. These Standards are for Specialist Palliative Care providers and services.
PCA needs the voices and opinions of those delivering palliative care, and quality improvement reviews, to assess the ways in which the Standards are currently being used, any supporting tools required by services, and how they may assist in the next decade.
A two-stage Consultation Process is currently being conducted to explore the questions outlined in the Consultation Paper.
Stage 1. REOPENED - The Online Survey previously closed on 30 April has been reopened to support the demand for workshop participation.
Those wishing to contribute are encouraged to complete the survey which has been reopened until 17 July 2023.
Stage 2. CLOSED – Two online workshops scheduled for 20 & 21 July 2023 have reached capacity.
Please encourage your colleagues, nurses, doctors, students, service managers and Heads of Services to bring their knowledge and professional experience to this process via the survey. This will have benefits for both the current and the future palliative care workforce.
