Deb has been a Health /Citizen Leader since 2013. She is passionate about improving health equity, health literacy and partnering with health professionals to learn how to best improve the patient experience, especially for people with special needs.
Her passion comes from lived experience as a carer for her younger brother who suffered a birth injury which resulted in cognitive disability and complex chronic health conditions, and her Mother in Law a beautiful Croatian Lady with Dementia and a RACF resident. As well as a number of personal, patient experiences during the past few years.
She was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in July, 2023 in recognition for her work across the College in championing consumers voices.
Deb is passionate about the education & training of health professionals currently working with the Australian Medical Council, her local hospital the Peel Health Campus and Palliative Care Australia as a member of the NRPCC.
