Liz and Nick Champrion 001

Left to right: PCA CEO Liz Callaghan and Mr Nick Champion MP

Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Health Nick Champion shared some personal experiences of death and how his views of dying had been shaped by them.

His Grandfather lived a long life and enjoyed a birthday celebration the day before he died, in contrast to Mr Champion’s father, who died alone of alcoholism.

Mr Champion said it is important that diverse groups in our community are cared for through palliative care including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, disabled Australians and other marginalised community members.
