Meeting with Japanese delegation

Representatives from the National Cancer Centre in Tokyo, Japan met with PCA staff to gain a better understanding of the National Standards Assessment Program (NSAP). NSAP is an Australian program offering a continuous quality improvement framework for specialist palliative care services. The program offers tools and resources for self-assessment, against the national palliative care standards.

The delegation was hosted in Sydney by Sue Hanson, National Clinical Director of Calvary Health Care. Sue was previously the National Quality and Standards Director for NSAP and was instrumental in the development of the national palliative care standards and NSAP.

The Japanese delegation found the opportunity to talk about the Australian experience useful for the development of their own quality improvement program.
