Professor Hubertus Jersmann came to Australia in 1988 from Germany and trained in Adelaide in Respiratory and Sleep medicine. He is a senior lecturer at the School of Medicine at the University of Adelaide and Respiratory Physician at Royal Adelaide Hospital. Hubertus is deeply committed to medical education, training and professional development serving on numerous committees including the Royal Australian College of Physicians, Transplantation Society of Australia and NZ and the University of Adelaide’s Bachelor Degree MBBS examination and assessment committee. Hubertus constantly works to advance education and training and provides strategic leadership in the areas of medical education and inter-professional learning.
He has a special interest in interventional pulmonology, in particular treating select cases of severe COPD with endobronchial valves to achieve non-surgical lung volume reduction as well as patients with asthma and remodelling with bronchial thermoplasty to reduce smooth muscle hypertorphy.
