Leave a bequest to us in your Will

Your bequest can make a lasting difference in helping Palliative Care Australia improve the quality of life for all, right to the end of life.

This can be a legacy to help generations to come.

Leaving this gift is an important decision, but it does not need to be difficult.

There are a number of different ways you can remember Palliative Care Australia in your will. You can:

  • Include a percentage of the remainder of your estate (known as the residue). After you have provided for your friends and family, just a small percentage, such as 1%, 2% or 5% will make a huge difference. And this type of bequest won’t lose its value over time.
  • Nominate a percentage of your estate that you would like Palliative Care Australia to receive from 1 – 100%. This bequest will also keep its value over time.
  • Leave a specific amount of money to Palliative Care Australia (known as a pecuniary bequest). This donation does not change in accordance with any growth or depreciation in your estate, or changes in inflation.

Deductible Gift Recipient Status

Palliative Care Australia Limited (ABN 85 363 187 904) holds Deductible Gift Recipient Status, which makes it fully Tax Exempt. Donations to Palliative Care Australia are tax deductible.

Seeking advice when writing your Will

Preparing a Will can be complex and we recommend getting advice from a solicitor with expertise in Estate Planning so that your wishes are recorded correctly. A solicitor can also give you further advice on the different types of gifts.

It is also a good idea to communicate your wishes with your family and loved ones. You should also consider if there is a specific area of Palliative Care Australia’s work that you would like to benefit from your donation, and discuss that with your solicitor so that they can help word your Will to help your final wishes be met.

Wording for your Will

Whether you are writing your Will yourself or seeking a solicitor’s advice, if you are leaving a bequest to us in your Will it is important to use the correct wording to ensure your gift has the impact you intend. The following is a template of wording you can use, after considering the type of gift you are making.
