Canberra – To operate or not and end of life care

The ACT Audit of Surgical Mortality (ACTASM) is holding a free seminar to discuss and address the challenges of making end of life decisions in an operative setting. 

The seminar serves to be a discussion and education platform, to address the challenges in making end of life decisions in an operative setting, involving stakeholders in the process and engineering a combined approach.

Speakers:

Dr Amanda Walker (Commission of safety and quality in helath care): Essential elements of safe and high quality end of life care.

Dr Simon Robertson (Deputy Director of intensive care): Decision making in areas of uncertainty. Short term decisions and medium term outcomes.

Dr Sivakumar Gananadha (Associate Professor of surgery): Managing the deteriorating patient in an operative setting.

Dr Karen Detering (Advanced care planning Australia): Challenges in advanced care planning in an operative setting. End of life decisions and the law.
